And for all the complaining about how the brand costs more money, people tend to gravitate to the brand name once they enter the store, although the price then deters them from actually acting on their impulse. But if you happen to notice that in handbags, jewelry and watches there is a incredible amount of imitation and fakery going on which feeds the needs of the not so wealthy people. There is huge market for it and some of the fault lies on the door steps of the brand names that have made their products so expensive, exclusive and desirable that an opportunity has come to exist where you can imitate these brands with cheap material and make it look like it is a product of their company. Then the company says that why there are so many imitations and fake products. Brand names have a market way beyond what the brand cater to the exclusive clientele. Although some brands have started to make lower price products of their top quality ones in order to capture the demand of the middle class people but they are loathe shedding the exclusivity of their products. There is too much money to be made in terms of exclusivity and they will never let go off their brands being mainstream. And in turn there is too much money to be made by ripping off brand products and create knockoffs since the market there is bigger than the one for the brand name products. So this cat and mouse game will continue between the brand names and the knockoffs since everybody craves a brand name.

Whether you like it or not, everybody loves a brand name even when they know that they cannot afford it. They want to be part of the it crowd and they want to tell people that they can afford it even that means have a fake of it in their hands. And I know this for sure since (although I am not judging anybody by their appearance) I travel by train to my work place and have seen increasing number of women carrying super luxury brand name handbags (you know what names they are) like it is on sale. And if you have been reading my posts before and how the middle class is struggling, believe me when I say that these women cannot afford the bags which maybe one month’s mortgage on a house. But I saying here is that no matter what the socio economic status of a person, all want to have a brand name handbag, suites, ties, shoes and what have you. As you know I also love a brand name although financial constraints and prudence demand that I look for a lesser kind of brand or even store name item. But as much as you want to avoid the brand name, there is no doubt that they are better made once you use it and compare it with the store brand. Although you would still be able to eat the same thing but there is something that the brand names have that store or in-house brand does not have. And it is not they are just brand names but also if you look a little bit closely they are better made also.

The mistakes we make and how we try to avoid it again with our kids

You see every parent want their kids to be smart and successful in life most possibly more than them. And they try to stir their kids to field which can give them a sustainable and comfortable future. They also want to avoid the mistakes they did in their lives and help their kids away from them. Although the kids would not understand now but we make mistakes all the time and want our kids not to repeat the same mistakes that we did intentionally or unintentionally. I know that it is a hard job to raise your kids with all the gadgetry and other temptations out there but with your knowledge you can let them know that they are not alone in this fight to overcome these temptations and they have sincere people who are genuinely worried about their future and the decisions they make. The best guidance you can give to your kids is to decide what they want to do about their future. You are in that position and sometimes you have made the mistake in choosing your career whether by default (your parents or your relative is in that situation) or by freak of some bad luck. You cannot say that follow your dream because that does not pay your bills. Instead be realistic about the future plans and even have a map that what you want to do and keep on revisiting those plans in order to update according to the circumstances. Apart from this advice, you keep on reflecting on your life of what your mistakes are and then try to prevent it in your kids. This is the best advice that I can give you.

Tell me again who is a terrorist really?

I knew who is a terrorist, a person who terrorizes innocent people to gain a purpose but lately this term is getting blurred. I mean let’s start with the term. We all know that Al-Qaeda is a terrorist organization and so are its variations and loose affiliates but now the Muslim brotherhood who were a few weeks ago ruling Egypt are labeled as terrorists by the Saudis and other royal Arabs and sometimes by their own people. The term is starting to get blurred since if you don’t agree with some governments on some issues they call you a terrorists and whatever name. But it is also a shame that Muslims and Arabs particularly as divided as ever and calling each other terrorists when it is convenient for them so that the world can rally behind them. So the good guys and bad guys are now being used interchangeably. Can we just agree on a common definition of a terrorist? I have defined it in the previous paragraph and I know what they are but the message that is being conveyed to the world is that when you are on the side of the civilized world even if you are going to kill your own people protesting peacefully you will be called a terrorist no matter what. It is all about geo politics and the U.S. being a champion of democracy irrespective of the outcome should support democracy and its values without getting hung up about who is against them because democracy takes time to take root and the cost is also greater in the short term but in the long term, the world will come to like what the U.S. have to offer in terms of freedom, equality and honesty. So start telling people who the actual terrorists are?
